How to Trade CXMT on Hyperliquid - The Pre-IPO Perp That Priced Asia's Biggest IPO of 2026

A Chinese Memory Chipmaker, Priced On-Chain Before It Listed
On July 27, 2026, ChangXin Memory Technologies opened on Shanghai's Star Market and closed the day up 472% from its offer price. It was the second-largest IPO mainland China has ever produced, and for most of the world it was completely untouchable. A-shares are effectively closed to foreign retail investors, the subscription book was oversubscribed roughly 212 times, and the listing happened in a market that shuts at 3pm Beijing time.
Two weeks before any of that, a perpetual futures contract on Hyperliquid was already quoting a price.

What Is the CXMT Perpetual?
xyz:CXMT is a perpetual futures contract that tracks the US dollar value of one ChangXin Memory share. It was deployed on July 14, 2026 by trade.xyz using Hyperliquid's HIP-3 framework, which lets an outside builder stand up its own perp market on HyperCore without asking permission from the core validator set.
What you get is price exposure, not equity. There are no shares, no dividends, no voting rights, and no claim on the company. The contract is cash-settled in USDC and the position lives in your own wallet.

The Part That Made Bloomberg Pay Attention
Pre-IPO price discovery is normally a private-markets game. Secondary share sales, SPV interests, and forward contracts get traded between funds at prices nobody outside the room ever sees. CXMT was a harder case than usual, because Chinese A-share listings are largely walled off from foreign capital in the first place.
The perpetual gave anyone with USDC a live quote instead. In mid-July it traded near $8, which against the 66.881 billion shares CXMT would have outstanding after listing implied a valuation around $535 billion. The official IPO valued the company at roughly 579 billion yuan. That is a premium of about 526%, and on its face it looked absurd.
Then the stock opened at 49.5 yuan, a market capitalisation near $488 billion, and the argument was over. The perp had been sitting around $7.14 going into the print. The stock opened at roughly $7.30.
Bloomberg's coverage noted that Hyperliquid had been pricing the company near its eventual opening valuation for more than a week, and quoted Ayesha Kiani, COO of Monarq Asset Management: "This is one of the largest and most strategically important IPOs globally. It could mark the beginning of decentralized derivatives becoming an accepted input into institutional price discovery."

This is the second time in two months the pattern has held. The SpaceX perpetual tracked the largest IPO in history through its June listing, and CXMT repeated the result on a company most Western traders had never heard of.

Now that CXMT is listed, you would expect the perpetual and the A-share to track each other tightly. They mostly do, but not perfectly, and the reason is worth understanding before you size a position.
An arbitrageur normally keeps a derivative pinned to its underlying by trading both legs. With CXMT that trade is close to impossible. Foreign investors cannot freely buy Star Market shares, capital controls limit moving money in and out, and the Shanghai session covers only a few hours of the day. The funding rate is the only mechanism pulling the perp back toward the cash price, and funding works on sentiment rather than on delivery.
The practical effects:
- The perp can trade at a persistent discount or premium to the last Shanghai close, and that gap does not have to close on any particular schedule
- Overnight and weekend moves land in the perp first, because it is the only venue open
- Funding payments can run hot in either direction when positioning gets one-sided, and on a 10x position funding is a real cost rather than a rounding error

Trading CXMT, Step by Step
Fund a Hyperliquid account
Connect a wallet at app.hyperliquid.xyz and deposit USDC. Our deposit guide walks through the bridge options if you are starting from another chain.
Open trade.xyz
HIP-3 markets are deployed by builders, so they live on the builder's own frontend. Go to app.trade.xyz and connect the same wallet. Your Hyperliquid balance carries over because both run on HyperCore.
Select the CXMT market
Search for CXMT or pick it from the equities list. The chart, order book, and funding countdown all come from the same HyperCore engine that runs BTC and ETH perps.
Set leverage and margin
CXMT is isolated margin only, with a 10x cap. Isolated means a liquidation on this position cannot touch the rest of your account, which is the right default on a single-name equity perp.
Place the order
Market for speed, limit for a better fill. For anything above pocket-change size, a TWAP order will get you a better average price than dropping one market order into a young order book.
Manage the position
Set a stop-loss immediately. Watch the funding countdown, and track your exposure through the portfolio tools if you are running more than one equity perp.
CXMT Perp vs. Buying the Stock
| CXMT perp on Hyperliquid | CXMT A-shares | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can access it | Anyone with a wallet, outside restricted regions | Mainland accounts and approved institutional quotas |
| Hours | 24/7 | Shanghai session only |
| Leverage | Up to 10x | Generally none for retail |
| Shorting | One click | Restricted and impractical for most |
| Settlement | USDC | CNY |
| Ownership | None, price exposure only | Real equity, dividends, voting |
| Minimum size | Dollars | A full board lot in CNY |
For a foreign trader that comparison is a bit unfair, because the right-hand column was never on the menu. The perp's real competition was never the A-share. It was having no way to express a view at all.
Where CXMT Sits in the Memory Trade
CXMT is a pure-play DRAM story, and trade.xyz lists enough of the supply chain to trade it as a spread rather than a single bet. trade.xyz has perps on Micron, SK Hynix, Samsung, SanDisk, and a DRAM index alongside CXMT.
That opens up positions a brokerage would make awkward:
- Long CXMT, short SK Hynix if you think domestic Chinese substitution eats into Korean share
- Long the DRAM index, flat on names if you want the memory cycle without single-company risk
- Short CXMT into lockup expiries if you think the 472% debut overshot
All of it settles in USDC on the same margin account, which is the practical advantage of equity perps over a multi-market brokerage setup. Our commodities and traditional markets guides cover the rest of the non-crypto lineup.

CXMT is ChangXin Memory Technologies, China's largest maker of DRAM memory chips and a domestic competitor to Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. It listed on Shanghai's Star Market on July 27, 2026 after raising about $9.8 billion, the second-largest IPO in mainland China history behind Agricultural Bank of China in 2010. Shares surged 472% above the offer price on debut.
It came close. The perpetual traded around $7.14 immediately before the Shanghai open, and the stock opened at 49.5 yuan, roughly $7.30. That is a gap of about 2 percent on a listing that ran 472 percent above its offer price. Bloomberg reported that the on-chain market had been pricing CXMT near its eventual opening valuation for more than a week.
The IPO was priced at 8.66 yuan per share, valuing CXMT around 579 billion yuan. Retail demand was oversubscribed roughly 212 times, so the offer price was never going to be the clearing price. The perpetual traded near $8 in mid-July, an implied valuation around $535 billion, which was a 526 percent premium to the official IPO valuation. The debut validated most of that gap.
No. trade.xyz geo-restricts the United States and several other jurisdictions, and the interface shows a regional restriction banner. Hyperliquid does not run KYC at the protocol level, but trade.xyz applies its own frontend restrictions. Check your local rules before trading any leveraged derivative.
CXMT runs at up to 10x leverage with isolated USDC margin. As a HIP-3 builder market the base fee schedule is 0.09% taker and 0.03% maker, and the market is currently in Growth Mode, which cuts taker fees sharply while liquidity builds. The 4% lifetime Hyperliquid referral discount stacks on top.
